When SabineTek set out to find creators to #sharetheworld for its latest campaign, Betsy McBride was an obvious choice. Betsy is a traveler first, and a content creator second. She brings her vision of the world during her travels, to the world with the content she produces. Betsy was kind enough to sit down with us and discuss how she likes to #sharetheworld.
Due to the pandemic, Betsy’s long-distance travel was put on hold, but since she is based in New York City, she still finds ways to get out and explore. When we caught up with her, she was in Grand Central Station, about to take a train Upstate to record the sounds of nature; “something that you don’t get a lot of in the city,” she said.
When looking back on her travel memories, Betsy is most fond of her time in South Africa, Switzerland, France, and Italy. She says that she was inspired by the beauty of these locations to begin recording highlights and daily moments of her travels, often using her SabineTek SmartMike+ to record audio of nature, a cafe, the sounds of a city, but also to just make recordings of her own thoughts to later journal about. She said, “Remembering the sounds is just as important as remembering the sights.”
“I think technology can be very helpful across the board. It is wonderful to be able to use technology in nature to record and remember the feelings and memories of being in nature,” she added, when talking about her sojourn up to the greener parts of the New York Metro Area.
We asked her if she had any tips for people looking to travel more. Betsy said, “I would definitely recommend creating a budget you feel comfortable with and then research places you have always dreamed of going to and figure out what would work best for you. It’s important to do your research before traveling.”
Like most people, Betsy was daydreaming about the next place on her travel list once restrictions are lifted. “Bora Bora!” she exclaimed.
Her final tip? “Be safe and be smart! The more understanding you have of the place you are visiting, the better your trip will be.”

What inspired you to begin recording your world and your travels?
I was inspired to record my travels to make beautiful memories that I can look back on.

Technology helps guide me in my travels and also helps me remember the places and things I have visited.

It’s hard to name just one place but a few of my favorite places I have traveled to are South Africa, Switzerland, France, and Italy.
